3.12.1.1 Dielectric strength. The element shall withstand, for a period of 1 minute, a voltage of twice the rated
line voltage plus 1,000 volts applied between the terminal and the sheath. The voltage wave shall approximate a
sine wave, and frequency shall be 60 Hertz or greater (see 4.5.1.2).
3.12.1.2 Insulation resistance. Insulation resistance of the element after 10 minutes of operation or at an
operating temperature of 450 ºF shall be not less than 25 megohms. Insulation resistance when each heating element
(excluding wiring) is at ambient room temperature shall be not less than 200 megohms (see 4.5.1.3).
